0f344c8129 i40e: Fix for failed to init adminq while VF reset
Fix for failed to init adminq: -53 while VF is resetting via MAC
address changing procedure.
Added sync module to avoid reading deadbeef value in reinit adminq
during software reset.
Without this patch it is possible to trigger VF reset procedure
during reinit adminq. This resulted in an incorrect reading of
value from the AQP registers and generated the -53 error.

d701658a50 i40e: Fix issue when maximum queues is exceeded
Before this patch VF interface vanished when
maximum queue number was exceeded. Driver tried
to add next queues even if there was not enough
space. PF sent incorrect number of queues to
the VF when there were not enough of them.

Add an additional condition introduced to check
available space in 'qp_pile' before proceeding.
This condition makes it impossible to add queues
if they number is greater than the number resulting
from available space.
Also add the search for free space in PF queue
pair piles.

Without this patch VF interfaces are not seen
when available space for queues has been
exceeded and following logs appears permanently
in dmesg:
"Unable to get VF config (-32)".
"VF 62 failed opcode 3, retval: -5"
"Unable to get VF config due to PF error condition, not retrying"

01cbf50877 i40e: Fix to not show opcode msg on unsuccessful VF MAC change
Hide i40e opcode information sent during response to VF in case when
untrusted VF tried to change MAC on the VF interface.

This is implemented by adding an additional parameter 'hide' to the
response sent to VF function that hides the display of error

Previously it was not possible to send response with some error code

8b4b06919f i40e: improve locking of mac_filter_hash
i40e_config_vf_promiscuous_mode() calls
i40e_getnum_vf_vsi_vlan_filters() without acquiring the
mac_filter_hash_lock spinlock.

This is unsafe because mac_filter_hash may get altered in another thread
while i40e_getnum_vf_vsi_vlan_filters() traverses the hashes.

Simply adding the spinlock in i40e_getnum_vf_vsi_vlan_filters() is not
possible as it already gets called in i40e_get_vlan_list_sync() with the
spinlock held. Therefore adding a wrapper that acquires the spinlock and
call the correct function where appropriate.

f559a35604 i40e: Revert "i40e: don't report link up for a VF who hasn't enabled queues"
This reverts commit 2ad1274fa3

VF queues were not brought up when PF was brought up after being
downed if the VF driver disabled VFs queues during PF down.
This could happen in some older or external VF driver implementations.
The problem was that PF driver used vf->queues_enabled as a condition
to decide what link-state it would send out which caused the issue.

Remove the check for vf->queues_enabled in the VF link notify.
Now VF will always be notified of the current link status.
Also remove the queues_enabled member from i40e_vf structure as it is
not used anymore. Otherwise VNF implementation was broken and caused
a link flap.

The original commit was a workaround to avoid breaking existing VFs though
it's really a fault of the VF code not the PF. The commit should be safe to
revert as all of the VFs we know of have been fixed. Also, since we now
know there is a related bug in the workaround, removing it is preferred.

2980cbd4dc i40e: Fix removing driver while bare-metal VFs pass traffic
Prevent VFs from resetting when PF driver is being unloaded:
- introduce new pf state: __I40E_VF_RESETS_DISABLED;
- check if pf state has __I40E_VF_RESETS_DISABLED state set,
  if so, disable any further VFLR event notifications;
- when i40e_remove (rmmod i40e) is called, disable any resets on
  the VFs;

Previously if there were bare-metal VFs passing traffic and PF
driver was removed, there was a possibility of VFs triggering a Tx
timeout right before iavf_remove. This was causing iavf_close to
not be called because there is a check in the beginning of iavf_remove
that bails out early if adapter->state < IAVF_DOWN_PENDING. This
makes it so some resources do not get cleaned up.

3a7001788f i40e: Fix MAC address setting for a VF via Host/VM
Fix MAC setting flow for the PF driver.

Update the unicast VF's MAC address in VF structure if it is
a new setting in i40e_vc_add_mac_addr_msg.

When unicast MAC address gets deleted, record that and
set the new unicast MAC address that is already waiting in the filter
list. This logic is based on the order of messages arriving to
the PF driver.

Without this change the MAC address setting was interpreted
incorrectly in the following use cases:
1) Print incorrect VF MAC or zero MAC
ip link show dev $pf
2) Don't preserve MAC between driver reload
rmmod iavf; modprobe iavf
3) Update VF MAC when macvlan was set

b6f23d3817 i40e: always propagate error value in i40e_set_vsi_promisc()
The for loop in i40e_set_vsi_promisc() reports errors via dev_err() but
does not propagate the error up the call chain. Instead it continues the
loop and potentially overwrites the reported error value.
This results in the error being recorded in the log buffer, but the
caller might never know anything went the wrong way.

To avoid this situation i40e_set_vsi_promisc() needs to temporarily store
the error after reporting it. This is still not optimal as multiple
different errors may occur, so store the first error and hope that's
the main issue.

37d318d780 i40e: Remove scheduling while atomic possibility
In some occasions task held spinlock (mac_filter_hash_lock),
while being rescheduled due to admin queue mutex_lock. The struct
i40e_spinlock asq_spinlock, which later expands to struct mutex
spinlock.  Moved i40e_aq_set_vsi_multicast_promiscuous(),

this patch there is a race condition, which might result in scheduling
while in atomic context. The race condition is between the thread, which
holds mac_filter_hash_lock, while trying to acquire an admin queue mutex
and a thread, which already has said admin queue mutex. The thread, which
holds spinlock, fails to acquire the mutex, which causes this thread to
sleep.

d9d6a9aed3 i40e: Fix virtchnl_queue_select bitmap validation
Currently in i40e_vc_disable_queues_msg() we are incorrectly
validating the virtchnl queue select bitmaps. The
virtchnl_queue_select rx_queues and tx_queue bitmap is being
compared against ICE_MAX_VF_QUEUES, but the problem is that
these bitmaps can have a value greater than I40E_MAX_VF_QUEUES.
Fix this by comparing the bitmaps against BIT(I40E_MAX_VF_QUEUES).

Also, add the function i40e_vc_validate_vqs_bitmaps() that checks to see
if both virtchnl_queue_select bitmaps are empty along with checking that
the bitmaps only have valid bits set. This function can then be used in
both the queue enable and disable flows.

9889707b06 i40e: Fix crash caused by stress setting of VF MAC addresses
Add update to the VSI pointer passed to the i40e_set_vf_mac function.
If VF is in reset state the driver waits in i40e_set_vf_mac function
for the reset to be complete, yet after reset the vsi pointer
that was passed into this function is no longer valid.

The patch updates local VSI pointer directly from pf->vsi array,
by using the id stored in VF pointer (lan_vsi_idx).

Without this commit the driver might occasionally invoke general
protection fault in kernel and disable the OS entirely.

2ad1274fa3 i40e: don't report link up for a VF who hasn't enabled queues
Commit d3d657a908 ("i40e: update VFs of link state after
GET_VF_RESOURCES") modified the PF driver to notify a VF of
its link status immediately after it requests resources.

This was intended to fix reporting on VF drivers, so that they would
properly report link status.

However, some older VF drivers do not respond well to receiving a link
up notification before queues are enabled. This can cause their state
machine to think that it is safe to send traffic. This results in a Tx
hang on the VF.

More recent versions of the old i40evf and all versions of iavf are
resilient to these early link status messages. However, if a VM happens
to run an older version of the VF driver, this can be problematic.

Record whether the PF has actually enabled queues for the VF. When
reporting link status, always report link down if the queues aren't
enabled. In this way, the VF driver will never receive a link up
notification until after its queues are enabled.

fae6cad17c i40e/i40e_virtchnl_pf: Use struct_size() in kzalloc()
One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding
the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along
with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example:

struct virtchnl_iwarp_qvlist_info {
	...
        struct virtchnl_iwarp_qv_info qv_info[1];
};

size = sizeof(struct virtchnl_iwarp_qvlist_info) + (sizeof(struct virtchnl_iwarp_qv_info) * count;
instance = kzalloc(size, GFP_KERNEL);

and

struct virtchnl_vf_resource {
	...
        struct virtchnl_vsi_resource vsi_res[1];
};

size = sizeof(struct virtchnl_vf_resource) + sizeof(struct virtchnl_vsi_resource) * count;
instance = kzalloc(size, GFP_KERNEL);

Instead of leaving these open-coded and prone to type mistakes, we can
now use the new struct_size() helper:

instance = kzalloc(struct_size(instance, qv_info, count), GFP_KERNEL);

and

instance = kzalloc(struct_size(instance, vsi_res, count), GFP_KERNEL);

Notice that, in the first case above, variable size is not necessary, hence it
is removed.

This code was detected with the help of Coccinelle.

1e84682752 i40e: fix misleading message about promisc setting on un-trusted VF
A refactor of the i40e_vc_config_promiscuous_mode_msg function moved
the check for un-trusted VF into another function. We have to lie to
an un-trusted VF that its request to set promiscuous mode is
successful even when it is not because we don't want the VF to find
out its trust status this way. With the refactor, we were running into
a case where even though we were not setting promiscuous mode for an
un-trusted VF, we still printed a misleading message that it was
successful.

This patch fixes that by ensuring that a success message is printed
on the host side only when the promiscuous mode change has been
successful.

a01e5f222f i40e: remove out-of-range comparisons in i40e_validate_cloud_filter
The function i40e_validate_cloud_filter checks that the destination and
source port numbers are valid by attempting to ensure that the number is
non-zero and no larger than 0xFFFF. However, the types for the dst_port
and src_port variable are __be16 which by definition cannot be larger
than 0xFFFF

Since these values cannot be larger than 2 bytes, the check to see if
they exceed 0xFFFF is meaningless.

One might consider these checks as some sort of defensive coding, in
case the type was later changed. However, these checks also byte-swap
the value before comparison using be16_to_cpu, which will truncate the
values to 16bits anyways. Additionally, changing the type would require
updating the opcodes to support new data layout of these virtchnl
commands.

Remove the check to silence the -Wtype-limits warning that was added to
GCC 8.
