520fb7f183 drm/tests/buddy: stop using PAGE_SIZE
Gives the wrong impression that min page-size has to be tied to the CPU

431c590c3a drm/tests: Add a unit test for range bias allocation
Allocate cleared blocks in the bias range when the DRM
buddy's clear avail is zero. This will validate the bias
range allocation in scenarios like system boot when no
cleared blocks are available and exercise the fallback
path too. The resulting blocks should always be dirty.

v1:(Matthew)
  - move the size to the variable declaration section.
  - move the mm.clear_avail init to allocator init.

c1696bf8d5 drm/tests: Add a test case for drm buddy clear allocation
Add a new test case for the drm buddy clear and dirty
allocation.

v2:(Matthew)
  - make size as u32
  - rename PAGE_SIZE with SZ_4K
  - dont fragment the address space for all the order allocation
iterations. we can do it once and just increment and allocate
    the size.
  - create new mm with non power-of-two size to ensure the multi-root

96950929eb drm/buddy: Implement tracking clear page feature
- Add tracking clear page feature.

- Driver should enable the DRM_BUDDY_CLEARED flag if it
successfully clears the blocks in the free path. On the otherhand,
DRM buddy marks each block as cleared.

- Track the available cleared pages size

- If driver requests cleared memory we prefer cleared memory
but fallback to uncleared if we can't find the cleared blocks.
when driver requests uncleared memory we try to use uncleared but
fallback to cleared memory if necessary.

- When a block gets freed we clear it and mark the freed block as cleared,
when there are buddies which are cleared as well we can merge them.
Otherwise, we prefer to keep the blocks as separated.

- Add a function to support defragmentation.

v1:
  - Depends on the flag check DRM_BUDDY_CLEARED, enable the block as
cleared. Else, reset the clear flag for each block in the list(Christian)
  - For merging the 2 cleared blocks compare as below,
    drm_buddy_is_clear(block) != drm_buddy_is_clear(buddy)(Christian)
  - Defragment the memory beginning from min_order
till the required memory space is available.

v2: (Matthew)
  - Add a wrapper drm_buddy_free_list_internal for the freeing of blocks
    operation within drm buddy.
  - Write a macro block_incompatible() to allocate the required blocks.
  - Update the xe driver for the drm_buddy_free_list change in arguments.
  - add a warning if the two blocks are incompatible on
    defragmentation
  - call full defragmentation in the fini() function
  - place a condition to test if min_order is equal to 0
  - replace the list with safe_reverse() variant as we might
remove the block from the list.

v3:
  - fix Gitlab user reported lockup issue.
  - Keep DRM_BUDDY_HEADER_CLEAR define sorted(Matthew)
  - modify to pass the root order instead max_order in fini()
    function(Matthew)
  - change bool 1 to true(Matthew)
  - add check if min_block_size is power of 2(Matthew)
  - modify the min_block_size datatype to u64(Matthew)

v4:
  - rename the function drm_buddy_defrag with __force_merge.
  - Include __force_merge directly in drm buddy file and remove
the defrag use in amdgpu driver.
  - Remove list_empty() check(Matthew)
  - Remove unnecessary space, headers and placement of new variables(Matthew)
  - Add a unit test case(Matthew)

v5:
  - remove force merge support to actual range allocation and not to bail
    out when contains && split(Matthew)
  - add range support to force merge function.

v6:
  - modify the alloc_range() function clear page non merged blocks
    allocation(Matthew)
  - correct the list_insert function name(Matthew).

97ec9715a8 linux_kselftest-kunit-6.9-rc1
This KUnit next update for Linux 6.9-rc1 consists of:

-- fix to make kunit_bus_type const

-- kunit tool change to Print UML command

-- DRM device creation helpers are now using the new kunit device
creation helpers. This change resulted in DRM helpers switching
from using a platform_device, to a dedicated bus and device type
used by kunit. kunit devices don't set DMA mask and this caused
regression on some drm tests as they can't allocate DMA buffers.
Fix this problem by setting DMA masks on the kunit device during
    initialization.

-- KUnit has several macros which accept a log message, which can
contain printf format specifiers. Some of these (the explicit
log macros) already use the __printf() gcc attribute to ensure
the format specifiers are valid, but those which could fail the
test, and hence used __kunit_do_failed_assertion() behind the scenes,
    did not.

    These include: KUNIT_EXPECT_*_MSG(), KUNIT_ASSERT_*_MSG(), and
    KUNIT_FAIL()

A 9 patch series adds the __printf() attribute, and fixes all of
    the issues uncovered.

fc9a615200 drm: tests: Fix invalid printf format specifiers in KUnit tests
The drm_buddy_test's alloc_contiguous test used a u64 for the page size,
which was then updated to be an 'unsigned long' to avoid 64-bit
multiplication division helpers.

However, the variable is logged by some KUNIT_ASSERT_EQ_MSG() using the
'%d' or '%llu' format specifiers, the former of which is always wrong,
and the latter is no longer correct now that ps is no longer a u64. Fix
these to all use '%lu'.

Also, drm_mm_test calls KUNIT_FAIL() with an empty string as the
message. gcc and clang warns if a printf format string is empty, so
give these some more detailed error messages, which should be more
useful anyway.

fca7526b7d drm/tests/drm_buddy: fix build failure on 32-bit targets
Guenter Roeck reports that commit a64056bb5a ("drm/tests/drm_buddy:
add alloc_contiguous test") causes build failures on 32-bit targets:

"This patch breaks the build on all 32-bit systems since it introduces
an unhandled direct 64-bit divide operation.

  ERROR: modpost: "__umoddi3" [drivers/gpu/drm/tests/drm_buddy_test.ko] undefined!
  ERROR: modpost: "__moddi3" [drivers/gpu/drm/tests/drm_buddy_test.ko] undefined!"

and the uses of 'u64' are all entirely pointless. Yes, the arguments to
drm_buddy_init() and drm_buddy_alloc_blocks() are in fact of type 'u64',
but none of the values here are remotely relevant, and the compiler will
happily just do the type expansion.

Of course, in a perfect world the compiler would also have just noticed
that all the values in question are tiny, and range analysis would have
shown that doing a 64-bit divide is pointless, but that is admittedly
expecting a fair amount of the compiler.

IOW, we shouldn't write code that the compiler then has to notice is
unnecessarily complicated just to avoid extra work. We do have fairly
high expectations of compilers, but kernel code should be reasonable to
begin with.

It turns out that there are also other issues with this code: the KUnit
assertion messages have incorrect types in the format strings, but
that's a widely spread issue caused by the KUnit infrastructure not
having enabled format string verification. We'll get that sorted out
separately.

3351269377 drm/tests/drm_buddy: fix 32b build
Doesn't seem to compile on 32b, presumably due to u64 mod/division.
Simplest is to just switch over to u32 here. Also make print modifiers
consistent with that.

drm/tests: Remove slow tests
Both the drm_buddy and drm_mm tests have been converted from selftest to
kunit recently.

However, a significant portion of them are trying to exert some part of
their API over a huge number of iterations and with random variations of
their parameters. They are thus more a way to discover new bugs than
actual unit tests.

This is fine in itself but leads to very slow runtime (up to 25s for
some drm_test_mm_reserve and drm_test_mm_insert on a Ryzen 7950x while
running the tests in qemu) which make them a poor fit for kunit.

Let's remove those tests from the drm_mm and drm_buddy test suites for
now, and if it's ever needed we can always create proper unit tests for
them later on.

This made the entire DRM tests execution time (as of v6.6-rc1) come from
65s to less than .5s on a Ryzen 7950x system when running under qemu,
and from 9 minutes to about 4s on a RaspberryPi4.

25bbe844ef drm: test: Fix 32-bit issue in drm_buddy_test
The drm_buddy_test KUnit tests verify that returned blocks have sizes
which are powers of two using is_power_of_2(). However, is_power_of_2()
operations on a 'long', but the block size is a u64. So on systems where
long is 32-bit, this can sometimes fail even on correctly sized blocks.

This only reproduces randomly, as the parameters passed to the buddy
allocator in this test are random. The seed 0xb2e06022 reproduced it
fine here.

For now, just hardcode an is_power_of_2() implementation using
x & (x - 1).

a251c17aa5 treewide: use get_random_u32() when possible
The prandom_u32() function has been a deprecated inline wrapper around
get_random_u32() for several releases now, and compiles down to the
exact same code. Replace the deprecated wrapper with a direct call to
the real function. The same also applies to get_random_int(), which is
just a wrapper around get_random_u32(). This was done as a basic find
and replace.
